Bathroom Upgrades Are a Good Investment
Upgrading your home’s bathroom is one of the best ways to increase that home’s value. It could be something simple like installing “his and hers” electrical outlets or a complete renovation with the latest in fixture design. Renovations also make your home more “livable.”
Does your home only have one bathroom that is shared by all? Consider adding a second. Insure privacy by making sure it doesn’t share a wall with the living room or the kitchen if you decide to add it to the main floor of your home. If you are putting in a main or large bathroom that is to be shared by more than one bedroom, make sure there is plenty of storage and cupboard space. Everyone is happier if they have a drawer to call their own. Make sure there is plenty of counter space.
Indulging in a decadent master bathroom? It is possible to add the equivalent of an in-home spa to your personal space. “His and hers” sinks, multi-jetted glass stall showers, deep soaker and/or jetted-tubs, marble counters and toilets in their own enclosed space are just some of the options available. If you have the space separate the tub and shower altogether and maybe put in a tub-for-two.
Make sure that the quality of your new bathroom matches that of the rest of your home. If you are planning on staying awhile and want the super-deluxe rain shower with multi-heads, stereo speakers and ambient LED lighting for your own enjoyment, install away. But, that $20,000 indulgence may not add that much value to the home when it’s time to sell. If your tastes lean more towards heated floors and a fireplace in the bathroom, you can indulge in your luxurious personal space while increasing the value of that home.
