Chinook Park Real Estate – Homes & Condos For Sale

Chinook Park sits just east of Heritage Park, a popular recreation site offering a steam train, horse drawn wagon, a recreated historical village and an attraction called the Gasoline Alley Museum. A number of annual events are hosted here, including Father’s Day, Canada Day and Calgary Stampede related celebrations. Cruises on vintage paddle-wheelers are offered on the adjacent Glenmore Reservoir. Most residences are within walking distance of the park.

The neighbourhood sits in the south west edge of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with the Glenmore Trail framing the northern end and Elbow Drive bringing up the east. Heritage Drive is on the southern end and to the west is 14th St. W.

Chinook Park is one of the older Calgary neighbourhoods, founded in 1959 at about the same time that the land was annexed. A little more than 80 percent of homes are single-family structures, with the rest being apartments and condominiums. More than 82 percent of the housing is owner occupied.

Schools in the area include the Chinook Park Bilingual Elementary, in the centre of the neighbourhood, and the Henry Wise Wood Senior High, both public schools. The elementary school includes French Immersion studies. Shopping is available at the Chinook Centre, past the Glenwood Trail, or to the south at the closer Glenmore Landing, off of 14th St. W.
