Sitting just south of the Canada Olympic Park and the Paskapoo Slopes, Cougar Ridge is one of Calgary’s newer neighbourhoods. It sits on the western end of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and has a rural atmosphere. To the west is 101 Street W and a largely undeveloped landscape. The eastern border is 69th Street W and Old Banff Coach Road brings up the south.

The land was once part of the Municipal District of Rockyview, annexed to Calgary in 1995. Now it is a modern suburb with mostly single family homes surrounded by hilly terrain to the north and a mixture of farms and other neighbourhoods to the south. More development is planned. Patterson Park is to the east.

The closest school is the Calgary French and International Campus, just east of Cougar Ridge. The private Calgary Waldorf School is on the western end. 85th St. SW runs through the neighbourhood, offering easy access to the Trans-Canada Highway, or Route 1. From here it is easy to get to shops and services along that roadway and in downtown Calgary. A few blocks south of Cougar Ridge is a sizeable mall with Shoppers Drug Mart as its anchor store.
