Discovery Ridge Real Estate – Homes & Condos For Sale

Located at the western edge of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Discovery Ridge is one of the newer developments in the city.  The lazy curve of Glenmore Trail SW makes up the northern edge, while 69th Street West frames the eastern border. The west backs up against Rocky View County and the Calgary city limits. To the south are the Elbow River and the Tsuu T’ina’s First Nations lands.

Development started during the latter half of the 1990s. It was originally called New Discovery, and the intent was to make it a gated community. That idea didn’t work so the original developer Mac Radford sold his interest. Today Discovery Ridge is open to all. It is made up primarily of single family homes, some of them high end estates. It is one of the most affluent neighbourhoods in Calgary.

Discovery Ridge is surrounded by open or lightly developed land on three sides. To the west are the greens of the Elbow Springs Golf Club and, a bit farther north, the Pinebrook Golf and Country Club. Aspen Landing Shopping Centre is to the north and Signal Hill Centre to the east. The larger Westbrook Mall is to the northeast near Edworthy Park.

Ambrose University College is less than a mile to the northeast. The 2L Preschool is within neighbourhood boundaries, but the closest schools for older children are to the east in Signal Hill.
