Elbow Park Real Estate – Homes & Condos For Sale
The Elbow Park neighbourhood in the south western end of Calgary, Alberta, Canada is shaped by the Elbow River on its eastern and southern ends. Elbow Drive makes up part of the eastern border, and Council Way frames the north. To the west is 14th Street W, which cuts through River Park in the south. The “toe” of the neighbourhood, created by a bend in the Elbow River, sits across from Stanley Park.
One of the city’s oldest and most affluent areas, Elbow Park dates back to 1910. It is made up of mostly single family homes, some of them high end and on sizable lots. All but roughly four percent of homes are owner occupied.
In the centre of the neighbourhood is an open green space called Elbow Park, a remnant of earlier times when each area had its own community gathering place. This park offers tennis courts, a skating rink and a playground. Movie in the Park nights are held annually, tied in with fundraising for various organizations.
Schools in the area include Elbow Park Elementary and the William Reid School. Thumbelina Nursery School and a Montessori School are to the north. The Calgary Stampede Grounds and the Saddledome is roughly a mile to the northeast. To the south are the Glenmore Athletic Park and the Calgary Golf and Country Club. Bow Valley Square Mall is to the north.
