Glendale Real Estate – Homes & Condos For Sale
Glendale, Calgary, Alberta is home to the Optimist Athletic Park, a multipurpose sports complex with facilities for football, lacrosse, field hockey, softball and soccer. Leagues of various levels use this venue for training and tournament play. This park takes up much of the southwest corner of the Glendale neighbourhood.
Glendale was established in 1955, and became part of Calgary in 1956. The western border is the Sarcee Trail SW, the south 26th Ave SW and the north 17th Ave SW. The eastern edge is 37th St. SW. All but roughly ten percent of the homes are single family structures, with the rest being apartments and condos. About 20 percent of the housing is rented out. The layout of the streets gives some residences lovely views of the Rocky Mountains to the west.
The area is surrounded by shopping venues, including Westhills Shopping Centre and Richmond Square, both to the southwest, and Westbrook Shopping Centre in the northeast. Nearby schools include St. Gregory Junior High, a Catholic facility, and the Glendale and Glenmeadow Elementary Public Schools. The Calgary Arts Academy is also near the Optimist Athletic Park.
