Sometimes referred to as Killarney-Glengarry, this is one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods, founded in 1906. Killarney, Calgary, Alberta, Canada became part of the city in 1910. It was lightly developed until after World War II, when a number of small bungalows went up on moderately sized lots. In 2002 Killarney was rezoned, allowing for apartments and condos to go up. Single family homes make up roughly 60 percent of the current housing inventory. About 44 percent of homes are rentals.
