Calgary annexed the land that would become the Lakeview neighbourhood in 1956. Six years later Lakeview, Calgary, Alberta, Canada was founded. Since this prime piece of real estate had a lovely view of the Glenmore Reservoir, Lakeview seemed the perfect name. Most of the residences remain single family properties with the majority being owner occupied.

The southern end of the neighbourhood fronts North Glenmore Park, which follows the shoreline in both directions. The Earl Grey Golf Club, a scenic course with tees offering water views, is to the east, and land belonging to the Tsuu T’ina Nation frames the western edge. The Glenmore Trail SW makes up the northern end, curving to the south and giving Lakeview an irregular shape.

Schools serving Lakeview include Jennie Elliot Elementary, the Catholic Bishop Pinkham Junior High and the Calgary Science School. The private Calgary Girls School is also available. The closest shopping is along the Glenmore Trail SW. Lakeview Plaza Shopping Centre is to the northeast. The Weaselhead Natural Area is to the southwest, following the shores of the Glenmore Reservoir.
